COMPUTER-ASSISTED LANGUAGE TEACHING





"Computers have changed the world of classroom presentations forever"

Computer-assisted language learning (CALL), This encompasses a variety of information technology applications and different teaching methods for the acquisition of a second language, these encompass traditional resources such as technological resources.  
These resources are focused on education since their development aims to facilitate and improve the teaching and learning of a second language, these materials help students to learn more about any topic as well as contribute to the enrichment of their knowledge.


COURSEBOOKS:
Coursebooks are very useful for presenting a study plan.
They are resources used by teachers to give concrete and explicit information on various topics, activities, lessons and guides for the language learner.  
Advantage
It serves as a guide for the teacher, facilitating his work. 
Continuity can be given to the subject 
Allows the teacher to advance more quickly in the class.
Limitations:
May not be in accordance with the curriculum of the students. 
May make the teacher feel limited 
May limit the teacher's creativity
Example:
we can use books for classroom activities

DICTIONARIES, MAGAZINES AND NEWSPAPERS
Electronic dictionaries allow students to quickly and easily access information using a computer. 
“Newspapers and magazines one of the best sources of information about the host culture and the host society”(Cavusgil, 1994)
Teachers also use newspapers and magazines as authentic materials for their class.
Advantages 
There is a diversity of English-language magazines and newspapers 
They are inexpensive and accessible
Improves the communicative ability of language learners.
Limitations 
Internet access is required 
Cannot be updated 
Example:
If we want to know the meaning of a word quickly we can make use of the electronic dictionary. 








CD-ROM:
It is important to implement CD-ROMS in the classroom to make better use of technology in order to improve the quality of educational resources.
The CD-ROMS help to have more information with easy access, this is the most used tool worldwide in the educational field.
Advantages
It has a large information storage capacity
Affordable cost.
Limitations
It has no recovery systems
It is only written once, that is, it is read-only.
Example:
CD-ROOMS can be used in the classroom to listen to audios that help improve the listening of language learners.



COMPUTER AND THE INTERNET :

Nowadays the computer is an important part of education because it is very useful for both the teacher and the student because thanks to it we can do from a simple work to a more complicated one facilitating our teaching and learning process of a second language.
Thanks to them we can access to audios, videos, books, magazines, interviews and articles. 
The computer and the Internet are powerful components for education if they are used correctly.
Advantages
We can access a lot of information from different sources.
We can access educational platforms
Makes communication much easier 
Limitations
We can be confused by so much information
Not all the information we find is accurate 
Can generate dependencies 
Examples
Research, tables, essays and many other activities can be done using a computer with the Internet. 

CONCLUSION
CALL is very important in the process of acquiring a second language since much of it is focused on technology, students can develop skills in the language and access a diversity of content to improve their learning.
